Giulitto Residence
River Bend - Kent, OH 44240

Located in the new River Bend allotment in Kent, this project allowed us to explore the use of natural materials and new techniques in residential design.  The exterior is finished with river stone and wood siding, a natural combination for this particular site, while plenty of insulating glass gives the residents a heightened sense of the surroundings.  The basement walls are insulating styrofoam forms filled with concrete which creates a strong and energy efficient foundation.  To achieve maximum unobstructed living areas, the floors are constructed with long spanning engineered joists and the two story Great Room features laminated wood arches which capture the majesty of this space.  The Master Suite is separated from the rest of the Second Floor by a bridge which is suspended across the Great Room.  A large deck accents the rear of the house providing a view of the surrounding trees and a nearby lake.

Building Area:  2,800 S.F.
Construction Cost:  $ 350,000
Completion Date:  May 2000
